Induction into the Keystone Society for Tourism is the highest honor awarded by the commonwealth for leaders in the tourism industry. “It is no simple task to open a tourism business or to be innovative with an established destination. The art of creating a fresh and attractive experience that will entice visitors is not a simple one to master,” said Mickey Rowley, deputy secretary for tourism at the Department of Community and Economic Development. “The Keystone Society honors those who exemplify excellence in the tourism industry.”
Nominations for the Society were submitted in several categories, such as Leadership, Enterprise, and Innovation. At the ceremony and luncheon on June 4, 2010, inductees were honored with personalized medallions and were also given the gift of art with one-of-a-kind works created by artists along all seven PA Artisan Trails.
At the ceremony, PA Artisan Trails display tables were set up inside the entrance to the Governor’s Residence so that guests could enjoy the gifts of art before the ceremony and recipients could preview their awards. The entire line of gift awards can be viewed at www.paartisantrails.com. Below are photos of the display tables from the event.
